PIANO TEACHING

Piano teaching takes a very special place in Chi-Ling Lok's work. Apart from performing, teaching is for her another way of sharing the joy of music making with other people. She has been a piano teacher working in London primary, secondary and music schools for over a 13 years.

Currently, she is teaching at St. Paul's Cathedral SchoolNewstead Wood School, Buller's Wood School for Boys

She has extensive experience in teaching children, teenagers and adults with abilities ranging from beginner to grade 8 and Diploma level. Over the years of her teaching she has maintained a 100% pass rate for her piano students with over 91% of them achieving “Distinctions” and "Merits" in ABRSM and Trinity-Guildhall piano exams. Her students have won music awards and exhibition prizes at prestigious secondary schools. She also prepares students successfully for  their GCSE and A-Level music requirements at their secondary schools as well as for music Summer schools and Master classes organised by the Junior departments at the London music colleges.

Beyond teaching the piano she also works as an accompanist for student choirs and ensembles as well as for individual voice and instrumental students for school concerts and exams.

The videos below showcase some of the wonderful work her piano students have achieved in recent years.  She is grateful for the permissions she received by the student's parents and schools for showing the videos on this website.

On 23 May 2025, Tom made a recording of Debussy's Rêverie at home. Tom is currently doing his A-Level exams. He did his GCSE music at school, while passing his grade 5 Theory with 'Distinction'. He has a passion for Jazz music and Liszt's piano works. Tom is a private piano pupil, who started piano with me at 9 years old. It's wonderful to see how far he has come!
